Jake Chanenson

Law-informed HCI researcher. Children's privacy & AI safety for youth.

I'm a CS PhD student studying children's privacy and AI safety at the University of Chicago, where I work with Marshini Chetty at the Amyoli Internet Research Lab. My research asks what it actually takes to protect children and youth in digital environments, and as generative AI moves into classrooms, that question has become more urgent than ever. I bring a Master of Legal Studies from UChicago Law to the work, which means I can see both what the law currently protects and where the gaps are. Finishing my PhD in spring 2027. My work spans research, law, and policy, and I am drawn to roles across academia, industry, and government where that breadth is useful.
